BET
ON NFL
Everyone
knows the NFL is the king of sports in America. There are a few core reasons
why this is true:
It's easy to bet on
football compared to baseball and hockey. The casual sports fan doesn't
even understand how to bet on baseball, but it's easy to understand that
the Steelers get 2 points against the Raiders.
The NFL
has the best salary cap structure of any league. This leads to parity.
Parity leads to optimism every year for the teams and their fans. Unlike
baseball, where you know the Devil Rays and Pirates will stink before
training camp starts, the NFL always produces a last to first team. Some
people like the old dynasty format, but give me parity any day.
There are
so few games, each one is vital. From week 1 to week 17, fans don't want
to miss ay of them. If they do, they are sure to check the highlights.
Opposite of this is the NBA. What a yawn during the regular season. The
players go through the motions while fans drop $100 per person to see
lazy, boring games.
Of course,
the NFL also means playoffs and super bowl hysteria. The business offices
across the country start flooding with office polls. It sucks in everyone.
Even the person who watched zero games all year will buy a square or two
in a block poll to gamble and try and win. Bet on NFL Football Today!
Here is
an idea to make the office polll even more interesting. Make up a list
of questions relating to the game. Give someone points for each one they
get right. Person with most points, wins some of the prize. What makes
it fun is getting creative with the questions. Some that have worked well
in the past:
Predict whose commercial
will show at the end of the first quarter (Pepsi, Budweiser, etc.)?
Find out
the halftime entertainment and have a question like, what color shoes
will Elton John be wearing?
Which team will have
the first penalty?
You get the idea.
The more fun you make your office poll, the more people that will participate.
The more that participate, the better for everyone.
So enjoy the NFL playoffs
and Super Bowl and bet a few cookies on your
favorite team (or favorite color) and have some fun!
