Second year in the majors and the potential NL MVP? Could be. As of this writing he had 52 dingers and seems to be getting stronger as the season winds down. Time will tell if its enough to get the Phillies a wild card birth, but you can beat he is leading many a fantasy squad to a championship. Not to mention, he is a keeper candidate for so many owners he is a stud to build a contending fantasy squad next year. For all you owners who have him, enjoy the ride. The rest of us.. well... we will hope he chokes the rest of the year. |
Anybody who has taken the time to e-mail us about catchers knows one thing....we hate them all. Once in a blue moon, they hit for average and thats about it. For the most part, they just drag your numbers down. So for all the suckers who drafted Varitek high, hopefully the lesson has sunk in to NEVER draft a catcher before round 8. Variek and his stellar .243 average were so nasty, his injury was a blessing for those who couldnt bear to admit their mistake and bench him. Despite his numbers, his injury hurt Boston in real life because of his ability to call a game. Useless skill in fantasy baseball though.
