Fantasy Football Lineup Strategy

We get an amazing amount of questions each week from owners who are asking for advice on lineup changes. We love the questions (but please try to send them early in the week, not on Sunday morning ; 0 )

One thing we notice is how many owners don't really research the teams their players are going up against. Early in the season, this is a little tough, but as the season wears on, you can make better decisions.

A simple way to do this is have a ranking of all the defenses in front of you. You should have a seperate ranking for how they do against the run and the pass. Also, have some information from the last time the 2 teams met. Check to see what kind of numbers were put up.

Using these two simple pieces of information, you can then start grading your roster. For example if your WR is playing one of the 5 worst pass defenses in the league, you might give him an "A" for the 1st matchup grade. But if he got shut down by the team the last time they played, you might give him a "C" grade for that.

Then maybe you want to grade your WR on how he has done the last 2 games. Has he caught a lot of balls, or is the QB looking at someone else. Or has he been too hot and is due for a down game? We call this the "gut feeling" grade. Obviously, it is the biggest wild card, but a trens is a trend. You just have to sniff it out.

Put all the grades together and come up with the average on assign the final grade. Do this for your whole roster, then set your lineup full of the best "students".

This is just one scenerio for grading you lineup. Obviously you can put any twist on this to make it fit your general way of thinking. But over the course of the season, we bet by doing this you will make more good lineup choices than bad.
